WEEK 3

Before I watched this video, I had a very basic idea on what the Supreme Court did. I knew that they review over cases from people whom think they are wrongfully convicted but, after watching this video I understand more about what the Supreme Court is and what it does.

The Supreme court has dealt with some interesting cases throughout history:

  • Marbury v. Madison in 1803
  • Gibbons v. Ogden in 1824
  • Dred Scott v. Sandford in 1857
  • Schenck v. United States in 1919
  • Brown v. Board of Education in 1954
  • Gideon v. Wainwright 1963
  • etc
They also have dealt with cases in present day:
  • Allen v. Cooper
  • Banister v. Davis
  • County of Maui v. Hawaii Wildlife Fund
  • Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California
  • etc
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the federal judiciary of the United States that helps those who feel wronged in some way another chance to be heard beyond the District and Appeals court.
